Battle for Marawi Monument

Libinan ng mga Bayani, Taguig City

Spectra are sets of colors in which a beam of light separates them to spread out. This idea reflects what happened to the city of Marawi and the scattering of lights symbolize the brave souls who met their end. The concept is translated into a design that plays with lights to disperse colors in order to portray a colorful city was once broken yet the colors remain because of the soldiers who saved it.

The names of the 165 soldiers who died are engraved on the pipe on the monument. There are 5 of each connecting to three pillars symbolizing the 5-month duration of the war. The pillars represent the three bridges in Marawi. These lead us to the top with a moon-shaped glass symbolizing that even within the darkness, light shines through like what happened in the city of Marawi.
